The Madison Avenue Cole Haan store was packed to the brims on Wednesday night when Guest of a Guest hosted the Cole Haan launch party for its new Whitney Collection. The collection is a trendy, urban line with some bright blues and purples in addition to the classic browns, blacks and grays that Cole Haan tends to carry. Blue and grey flats, heels with elastic bands, sporty leather hand bags, and studded accessories were standouts in the collection. These were some of my favorite pieces:

Am I the only one who had flashbacks of the original Barbie from 1959 when I saw this little Dior Couture number?
Start shopping for fall! I just returned from a two week vacation and lots of NYC job hunting, so I hope you haven’t been too bored! Mercedes Benz fashion week is just around the corner and we will already know what to buy for next season so it is really time to get out there and stock up your fall and winter wardrobes.
As I reported after Spring Fashion Week 2008, there are lots of great trends this season:
- Greys, Purples, & Berries
- Lace, Florals & Feathers
- Platform Heels & Booties
- Constructed Jackets & Tailored Pants
- Geometric Shapes
Constructed Jackets & Tailored Pants
As I get ready to move to one of the most expensive cities in the world, I am preparing to put my clothing expenses on a tight budget. As I was looking around Target for some things for my upcoming trip, I strolled through the shoe section just to see what they had to offer. To my surprise, I found a few pairs of shoes already on sale that are very fall-fashionable.
Women’s Mossimo® Vergie
Black Patent Leather
Nine West “Papoose”
Nine West “Lovenyc”
$99.00 Nine West
I also found a shoe deal on DSW online. This pair of Nicole Miller peep-toe pumps is very similar to a pair of Alexander McQueen shoes- the highlights on the Nicole Miller shoes are black patent leather rather than the gold highlights on the Alexander McQueen pumps, but they are both beautiful pairs of shoes:

I have gladly worn dresses the last 3 summer seasons. Form flattering, fun, and comfortable, dresses are a great way to show off femininity and a great pair of heels. Unfortunately, the fashion gods have officially declared their doom. According to the fashion editors, stylists, and designers who make and create trend forecasts, dresses will officially drop off of the style radar by the end of August. The styles that will be replacing the dresses are going to be more tailored with wide leg pants, and a continuance of the high waist on bottoms. One of my favorite outfits I have seen in this style was by Ralph Lauren. This look was created for his 40th anniversary line. While most of us will not be wearing this tuxedo-like style, this outfit emphasizes the feel of fall fashion. If you just aren’t ready to let go and are still looking for a dress to wear this spring or summer, go for small floral prints.
So, the last few weeks have been busy. Fashion week has moved from NY to London and landed in Milan, but I didn’t even cover the
second half of the week in Bryant Park!
ht was a more simple style. I feel like it could be fierce if dressed down with a pair of dark grey suede boots that hit right above the knees and a motorcycle cut leather jacket.
Donna Karan showed her collection on Friday, February 8th. Her collection included greens, burnt oranges, blacks and florals.
The rest of his collection included purples, greens, and lush browns. Instead of feathers, like many designers had in their collections, Kors used fur for enhanced texture in some of his styles.
Black ankle boots (& black tights)
Jackets with different arm length cuts and of varying colors; greys, blues, yellows, oranges or a delicate floral print in a darker color.
Feathers or Fur, if you can afford it, on your evening wear
Tops with different necklines; one strap, v-neck, and sweet heart
A detailed black clutch & a wide waist belt
As for the belated Valentines/Birthday post…
I spent Valentines weekend in New York, shopping, walking from Soho to midtown, shopping, wishing I had more money for shopping, and celebrating Valentine’s Day and my birthday! I got two great buys:
The Guess “Harriet” shoe in Gold Patent leather. They are actually more of a champagne/nude color. I have been trying to find a pair of nude shoes all over the internet within my price range (although I would really love some Louboutin nude peep toes) so I was very happy to stumble upon these in Guess.
Dolce & Gabbana sunglasses courtesy of some generous birthday money!
It was a great weekend and I can’t wait to go back to the Big Apple in March… maybe by then I will save up enough money to buy a dress with a full skirt, my favorite trend for this spring!

Mercedes Benz Fashion Week in NYC started on Friday morning and dozens of the best designers in the world have already sent their Fall 2008 collections down the runway. While many news outlets have been plugging the Heart Truth’s Red Dress Collection which was modeled by A-List celebrities to support and promote women’s heart health, there have been countless other newsworthy shows and designs. Here are a few…
Saturday Morning Abaete got classy with a midnight blue strapless cocktail dress anda beautiful sweetheart neckline. The rest of the collection featured other dark blues, blacks and whites with many skirts (hitting just above the knees) and some three quarter sleeved jackets
Diane Von Furstenberg showcased this beautiful feather dress beneath a more casual blazer, mixing browns and blaks. Both feathers and tailored jackets have made multiple appearances in fall collections this week.
Michael Kors, Calvin Klein, Zac Posen & many more to come during this excitingfashion week!
